FAQ
What does hypnosis actually feel like?
It feels different for everyone, but most people describe it as a state of profound physical and mental relaxation. It’s similar to that “daydreaming” state you enter when you are engrossed in a good book or driving a familiar route. You’ll leave our session feeling refreshed, calm, and clear-headed.
What makes the Simpson Protocol different from traditional hypnosis?
Traditional hypnosis often relies on the hypnotist giving “suggestions” to your conscious or subconscious mind. The Simpson Protocol is much deeper. It allows us to communicate with The Super Conscious or your “Higher Mind” to find the root cause of an issue without you having to relive painful memories or even speak aloud about the details. It is a highly efficient, non-invasive way to achieve deep breakthroughs.
Can everyone be hypnotized?
Yes, as long as you have the ability to focus and follow simple instructions. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that we all enter multiple times a day. If you can follow a story or get “lost” in a movie, you can be hypnotized. Success really comes down to your willingness to participate and your desire for change.
How many sessions will I need?
Because every person and every issue is unique, there is no “one size fits all” answer. However, because I utilize advanced techniques like the Simpson Protocol, many clients experience significant shifts much faster than they would with traditional talk therapy. We will discuss a personalized plan during our initial consultation based on your specific goals.
Will I lose control or be forced to do something I don't want to do?
Not at all. This is the most common myth about hypnosis! You are always in control and aware of what is happening. My role as a hypnotist is to guide you, not control you. You cannot be “made” to do anything that goes against your values or desires. In fact, hypnosis is a state of increased focus where you are more in control of your subconscious habits.
Can I be hypnotized without my consent?
Absolutely not. Hypnosis is a collaborative process that requires your cooperation and willingness to follow instructions. If you don’t want to be hypnotized, or if you don’t trust the process, your mind will simply stay in its normal, analytical waking state. You are always the one in the driver’s seat.
What happens if I can't 'come out' of hypnosis?
This is a common concern from movies, but it’s physically impossible. Because hypnosis is a state of focused attention (similar to being engrossed in a movie), you can emerge at any time simply by choosing to. If I were to stop speaking, you would either open your eyes because you noticed the silence, or you would drift into a natural, brief nap and wake up normally.
Is hypnosis 'sleep' or will I be unconscious?
No. Even though your eyes are usually closed and your body is relaxed, you are not asleep. You are actually in a state of heightened awareness. Most people hear every word I say and are perfectly aware of their surroundings, but they simply feel too relaxed to care about outside distractions.
How long does a typical session last?
Most sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes. This gives us enough time to discuss your progress, set goals for the day, and conduct the hypnotic portion of the session without feeling rushed.
Can I drive home after my session?
Yes. At the end of every session, I use a specific “emerging” technique to ensure you are fully alert, grounded, and feeling refreshed before you leave. Most people find they feel more clear-headed and focused after a session than they did when they arrived.
However, these days I mostly do session online through video.
